The Dimple Hinds Story

The Marvels began life in 1964 with members Alex Dimples Hinds, Nell Hinds and Eddie Smith meeting through doing various session work. Nell had come to the Uk in 1958 to be joined by the other two in 1960. After releasing such titles as Come To The Wedding, Dont Cry My Love and Sonia, they were joined for a while by Hazel McCauley and Jackie Edwards, at which point they toured Europe and the Far East as a cabaret-type act playing such standards as Ol Man River and The Great Pretender.

Upon their return to the UK in 1968 they signed for a while with EMI, and had a couple of small hits. With their move to Pama though, they hit with what is probably their best song - Rock Steady. Though some of their later releases have a kind of charm, and the gospel tinged vocals on Love One Another do touch a chord, their best releases were far behind them.
